Ein Organisationssystem für alle
Du hast bestimmt schon mal das Internet durchstöbert und bist über ordentlich organisierte Boxen, farblich sortiere Kleiderstangen und perfekt gefaltete Spannbettlaken gestolpert. Diese Bilder nimmst du bei deinen Organisationsvorhaben möglicherweise als Vorbild und scheiterst dann kläglich bei der Umsetzung. Letztlich verwirfst du die Idee organisierter zu leben komplett. In Wahrheit schaffen es nur ganz, ganz wenige Menschen so ein Organisationssystem aufrecht zu erhalten. Für die Meisten von uns sind diese Systeme unerreichbar. Sie sehen wunderschön aus. Wir fühlen uns zu schönen Dingen hingezogen und vergessen dabei die Praktikabilität der Systeme. Und genau da liegt der Fehler. Du wirst vermutlich an solchen Systemen scheitern, wenn du keine Bee oder eine Cricket bist. Bitte was? Moment, ich erkläre das. Ich fühlte mich durch Cas von ClutterBug inspiriert, diesen Post zu schreiben. Ich liebe ihren Entwurf. Über Jahre als professional Organizer stellte sie fest, dass es vier große Gruppe der Organisationstypen gibt (die häufig auch vermischt werden können in unterschiedlichen Lebensbereichen). Zum einen unterscheidet sie zwischen Menschen, die gerne ihre Habseligkeiten sehen (Bees und Butterflies) und solchen, die das nicht mögen (Ladybugs und Crickets) und zum anderen unterscheidet sie zwischen solchen, die Makro-Organisation brauchen (Butterflies und Ladybugs) und solchen, die Mikro-Organisation brauchen (Bees und Crickets). Ich habe hier nicht vor, ihre Idee zu stehlen. Ich möchte dich vielmehr zu ihr weiterleiten, denn a) ist es letztlich ihr System und b) kann sie die einzelnen Typen und die Organisationssysteme, die zu ihnen passen, viel besser erklären als ich. Was ich an dieser Stelle herausstellen möchte ist, dass wir in Zeitschriften und im Internet meist Organisationssysteme sehen, die für Crickets (teilweise für Bees) funktionieren. Sie sehen hübsch aus. Wenn du aber eher ein Butterfly oder ein Ladybug ist, wirst du nie mit ihnen klarkommen; du wirst immer Probleme damit haben. Die Vorstellung eines einzigen, perfekten Organisationssystems für jeden ist falsch. Es gibt keine Lösung für alle. Es ist eher so, dass es für jeden Organisationstypen mehrere Lösungen gibt, um endlich erfolgreich sein Organisationssystem zu finden.
Cas versteht es phantastisch, zwischen den einzelnen Typen zu unterscheiden, sie zu erklären und eine Vielzahl an möglichen Organisationssystemen aufzuzeigen. Ich finde ihre Arbeit großartig. Nur für den Fall, dass du neugierig bist: nein, Cas hat keine Ahnung, dass ich überhaupt existiere, geschweige denn, dass ich dich auf ihre Arbeit hinweise.

One fits all organizing systems
You might have browsed the internet for organizing systems once and came across neatly organized boxes, color coordinated clothing racks and perfectly folded fitted sheets (how do people do that?). You might take this example as your goal, try to achieve it and fail miserably. So you end up ditching the whole idea of getting organized all togeter. Truth is, some very, very few people might be able to keep up such organizing systems but for most of us they are not realistic. They only look nice. We’re drawn to things that look pretty and neglect the actual practibility of systems. And this is where we go wrong. The thing is, if you fail at those systems you’re probably not a bee or a cricket. Wait, what? Let me explain. I got inspired to write this post because of Cas of ClutterBug. I love what she created. Through years of professional organizing she found that there are four major types of people when it comes to organizing (often you can mix and match types in different areas of your life). Basically she distinguishes between people who like to see their things (bees and butterflies) and those who don’t (ladybugs and crickets), and between people who like macro-organization (butterflies and ladybugs) and micro-organization (bees and crickets). I do not intend to steal her idea. I rather want to direct you into her direction because a) it is her system after all and b) she does a way better job explaining the different organizing types and organizing solutions for the types than I could. The point I would like to make is, in magazines and on the internet we mostly see organizing systems that work for crickets (some for bees). They look so pretty. But if you are more like a butterfly or a ladybug you will never be able to achieve these systems; you will always struggle. The idea of having the perfect organizing system for everyone is misleading. There is no one fits all solution. Rather, there are quite a few organizing systems for each organizing type that you can make use of to finally succeed at organizing.
Cas did a phantastic job categorizing and explaining the different types and provides a number of solutions for each type. I love her work so much. Just in case you wonder, she has no idea I exist, let alone I guide you to her.
